The Ruling Regime Sets Up Nightime Ambushes in Many Areas of Al Amarah Province. 2/10/2001

As a result of the fear and terror which the regime's Baath Party and Security organisations are experiencing after the continuous blows which the heroic Islamic Resistance are raining down on the regime's members and establishments, Baath Party and security formations have established night time ambushes on the roads between Qala'at Salih district and neighbouring areas in Al Amarah Province. Sources in the SCIRI Information Centre have reported this, and have said that such ambushes have also been set up on the Abu Gharb - Qala'at Salih road, the Qala'at Salih - Abdullah bin Ali area, Qala'at Salih and the main road which connects Kahla' with the Rifa'i region, and the road which connects Umm Istaishan with Bait Said Surut.
Our sources have said that members of these nightly ambushes have expressed their fear and terror, and have assured those they trust that even if they saw members of the Opposition entering the area they would not confront them as they did not want to put their lives at risk.
Furthermore, the regime's authorities claim that Iraqi Oppositionists are using these roads at night to enter areas where they are carrying out their operations against the oppressive regime's members  and establishments.

The Ruling Regime Forces Male and Female Citizens to Join the So Called "Jerusalem Army" ( Jaish Al Quds).10/10/2001

Recently the ruling regime has introduced comprehensive and stringent instructions to Baath Party and Security organisations, confirming, once more, that it was the obligation of one male, or female, member of every Iraqi family to enlist in the so-called "Jerusalem Army" ( Jaish Al Quds). In reporting this our SCIRI Information Centre sources said that the government authorities had demanded that the Security and Party organisations should enforce these instructions and report the names of those families which refused to allow their sons to join those forces.  They added that the instructions were tantamount to a direct threat by the Security and Party organisations against those families, since they confirmed that, in the case of a family which did not contribute one of its sons, or daughters, to the "Jaish Al Quds", and failed to inform the authorities concerned of this , the Security and Party apparatus would consider the family to be negligent. The family would be held responsible, and in consequence the strongest punishments would be imposed on it. These instructions threatened those families whose sons refrained from enlisting in units of the "Jaish" with withdrawal of rations in addition to other punishments, such as imprisonment, or the demolition of their houses.

The Baath Party Regional Command have recently issued strict instructions to its branches and Party organisations, both in the capital Baghdad, and in the remainder of the Provinces, requiring the withdrawal of ration cards from every family that prevents its sons from enlisting  in the training camps for the so-called "Jaish Al Quds" ( Jerusalem Army). Sources in the SCIRI Information Centre have quoted its sources inside Iraq as saying that the withdrawal of ration cards will also cover those families one of whose members belongs to the Baath Party but who fails to attend Baath Party meetings assiduously,  and absents himself for three meetings in a row. The Al Kharkh and Rasafa branches of the Baath Party in the capital, Baghdad, have confirmed this, and have informed the families of the Baath Party members of this threat. Our sources have also reported that senior officials  in the Baath Party have been complaining about the proliferation of the phenomenon of absenteeism from Party meetings, and the fact that the absentees rely on not sleeping in their houses to evade pursuit and prosecution. The sources have added that the withdrawal of ration cards also concerns those families whose sons fail to join the training camps for the so-called "Jaish Al Quds".
